Lenovo has launched its new product of the Xiaoxin Air 14 laptop series in China as the firm is targeting expands laptop markets beyond smartphones. The Lenovo Xiaoxin Air 14 2020 is the next generation model and is presented as the first portable product equipped with the NVIDIA GeForce MX350 graphics card.
The Nvidia GeForce MX350 is a dedicated entry-level mobile graphics card for laptops and thus it became the first laptop in the world to launch with the new NVIDIA GeForce MX350 graphics processor. The latest model comes with a metal body and is available in space gray. The updated model also has a design that closely resembles the Apple MacBook line.
Nvidia GeForce MX350: It was released in February 2020 and is based on the same CGP107 chip with 640 shaders than the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 for laptops.
The Xiaoxin Air 14 2020 comes with a 14-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels and has a screen-to-body-ratio of 82.7 %. The screen comes with features such as a 100% sRGB color gamut and DC dimming. The screen also has a matte design that gives it a non-glare design. There is also a physical privacy front camera.
In the processor, the Lenovo Xiaoxin Air 14 2020 is equipped with a 10th-gen Core i5-1035G1 processor and a Core i7-1065G7 processor in higher-end models. Both SoCs are quad-core SoCs and have an eight-wire design. The i7 version has a maximum frequency of 3.9GHz and 16GB in memory, as well as dual-channel DDR4 4300MHz memory.
On the OS side, the Lenovo Notebook will be preloaded with the latest Windows 10 Home operating system.
With the integrated NVIDIA GeForce MX350 graphics card, game performance has increased by 20% compared to the MX250. Image processing performance has doubled simultaneously. Video processing performance has increased 2.7 times.
However, since the graphics card is the basic level, we do not expect the laptop to handle heavy game graphics. All models in this series also equipped with a fingerprint scanner on top of the power button.
Other specifications include a 56.5 Wh battery that offers up to 12 hours of battery life. The laptop has a function activated by the Fn + Q buttons. It can be used to switch between energy-saving, smart and beast modes.
The laptop is lightweight at 1.39 kg and is 16.9 mm thick. It comes with a comfortable white backlit keyboard. The fingerprint sensor is integrated with the power key.
Another connectivity feature that you will get is two USB 3.1 Gen 1 interfaces, a full-size SD card socket, a full-featured Type C interface, an HDMI interface, a 3.5mm audio socket, and a 3-in-1 full-size SD card reader.
First Look on Lenovo Xiaoxin Air 14
While the GeForce MX350 is based on the old NVIDIA Pascal architecture, it is a 25-watt GPU that should offer a considerable increase in performance over the older NVIDIA basic level graphics solutions thanks to significant increases in the number of CUDA cores, memory bandwidth, texture units, and transistor count.
However, I am a little surprised to see Lenovo pairing an MX350 CPU with an Intel Ice Lake processor with Iris Plus graphics. I thought it would have been better for a system with Intel Comet Lake-U chips that have integrated graphics less impressive than Ice Lake chips.
Overall Lenovo Xiaoxin Air 14's features are good and it looks promising considering the initial price at which it has been launched.
Lenovo Xiaoxin Air 14 2020 models have the following price:
The Lenovo Xiaoxin Air 14 2020 laptop is available in China only and will be launched to other parts of world very son. The laptop will go for pre-order from 27th-Feb in China.
