Realme X50 Pro 5G review: Flagship 5G smartphone killers!
Even before wireless carriers of India like Jio, Airtel, Vodaphone, etc started 5G trials in India, smartphone manufacturing OEMS like Realme, Xiaomi and Vivo's subbrand iQoo, etc. has started launching 5g features phone in India well well before the launch of 5G services in India.
On 24th-Feb,e Realme X50 Pro 5G is Realme's most ambitious and India's 1st Snapdragon 865 5G powered smartphone, but you can't use all flagship features in India.
So why are smartphone OEMs are launching 5G-enabled phones in a country where there is no 5G? In simple word, marketing 5G is a fantastic marketing buzzword, and although you will not be able to connect to 5G networks in India at this time, the idea is that when activated, there are many devices on the market to take advantage of the next-generation connectivity standard.
Without diverting our attention, let's jump into, the latest flagship killer phone launched by Realme. The Realme X50 Pro 5G is the "first" 5G phone in India, with the brand beating Vivo's subbrand for just one day.
Powered by Snapdragon 865 chipset, six cameras, gaming 90Hz screen, in total and a 65W super fast charge, the Realme X50 Pro 5G is the most ambitious phone by Realme, till date. And it has a flagship-level featured and brings the top-line Snapdragon 865 soc to the budget segment of below Rs 40,000 with a base variant that costs Rs. 37,999 ($ 525).
So what do we get for that price? Let's find out:-
Realme X50 Pro comes with an aluminum and glass sandwich design with a Gorilla Glass 5 layer on the front and backside. The phone weighs about 205 grams and measures 8.9 millimeters at the thickest point. However, Realme X50 Pro is a bit smaller than the X2 Pro but a bit heavier due to a larger battery.
Realme X50 Pro features a 6.44-inch Super AMOLED 2400 x 1080 pixels resolution display with two unch holes for two front camera sensors. This enables the manufacturers to offer a screen with an aspect ratio of 20: 9 that is decent for watching videos or movies on the phone.
Realme X50 Pro 5G comes with a high refresh rate of 90Hz, which means you'll notice smoother transitions while scrolling, watching videos, browsing, or playing your favorite games. The screen is also certified for HDR10 + playback and supports a range of 100% DCI-P3 full-color range.
The back panel of the smartphone has a soft-touch matte finish that feels decent and compact in the hand. Realme stated that they have used the AG Glass solution that reduces glare in the glass giving it a matte shine.
The Realme X50 Pro 5G comes with a frosted glass finish, and back design simillar to the OnePlus 7 series.
The camera module is hidden in the left corner of the phone and just at the opposite end, we have the brand dialer. On the right edge, there is a power button with a yellow accent while the volume controls are on the left edge. At the bottom, there is a SIM card slot followed by the USB Type-C port and speaker grill.
It is also equipped with a third-generation optical fingerprint reader that provides a larger touch area so you can unlock the phone in 0.27 seconds.
Overall, it has impressive construction and especially the matte finish on the back. In our brief use, we found that the screen is quite good for reproducing the colors that one expects from an AMOLED panel.
Let's us focus on, Six camera setup of Realme X50 Pro which consisting of a 64MP primary Samsung GW1 sensor with an f/1.8 aperture, a 12MP telephoto lens with 20x hybrid zoom, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens with a 119-degree field - view that works like a macro camera with a minimum focus distance of 3 centimeters and, finally, a 2MP monochrome lens for vertical mode.
The main notable feature in Realme X50 pro is in the front camera panel: Dual camera setup with a 32MP front camera linked by an 8MP wide-angle lens. It's as intrusive as the cut in the Galaxy S10 series last year or the most recent POCO X2, but at least the fact that it's on the left means that its status icons are where you'll normally find them.
The Realme X50 Pro cameras are capable of recording 4K video at 30 fps, Full HD videos in slow motion at 120 fps, real-time bokeh video and more. Nightscape mode also receives an update of version 3.0, with a new tripod mode and an ultra-night mode that claims to create bright images in low-light environments.
Realme X50 Pro is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset with an octa-core CPU and Adreno 650 GPU. This SD 865 flagship processor is 25% faster and more efficient than previous generation chipsets.
The accompanying Snapdragon X55 5G supports all major frequency bands of 5G such as mmWave, FDD,sub-6, TDD, SA and NSA modes.
The flagship killer is equipped with a set of 13 antennas: eight for 5G /4G, WiFi, three for GPS and one for Bluetooth 5.1 and NFC that form what Realme calls a 360 degree surround antenna. Such a design aims to provide uninterrupted connectivity regardless of the way you hold the phone.
It is compatible with a 6GB / 8GB / 12GB LPDDR5 RAM module and 128GB / 256GB UFS 3.0 storage options. The phone works with Realme UI 1.0 ready to use, which is based on Android 10.
Realme X50 Pro uses an improved steam cooling system for thermal management with faster heat dissipation in six layers of graphite sheet, steam chamber, copper sheet, and silica. This will help the phone maintain maximum performance when playing games with intensive graphics for hours at a time.
The X50 Pro has dual stereo speakers tuned by Dolby Atmos and supports high-resolution audio playback. WiFi 6 is also present as the latest wireless protocol with speeds 40% faster than the previous generation and can connect to two WiFi networks simultaneously to increase the signal.
Realme X50 Pro comes powered with a 4,200 mAh battery with support for 65W SuperDart super-fast charging and 18W power delivery charge. This is an even faster-charging standard than we have seen in the Realme X2 Pro, and the company claims that its SuperDart solution is capable of charging the phone from 0% to 100% in just 30 minutes.
Realme X50 Pro 5G is available from Rs 37,999 for the base variant with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage and Rs 39,999 for the model with 8 GB of RAM. The maximized X50 Pro has 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage and is priced at Rs 44,999 in India.
It is available to buy at Flipkart and Realme India online store. It has been launched with two color variants i.e. Rust Red and Moss Green. We like the Rust Red variant as the color is unique and fashionable.
We found that the Realme X50 Pro 5G is a very much promising phone although 5G cannot be used in India right now. You will get the latest flagship-level processor, vibrant 90Hz display, good cameras, the latest internal hardware with 5G connectivity, and a giant battery with super-fast charging of 65W. Only Cons we have found that there is no microSD card slot and the phone is slightly heavy.
A real flagship phone by 2020, the X50 Pro features 5G capabilities and top-of-the-line flagship performance that will become a common ground for premium smartphones this year.
India is becoming a highly competitive market for smartphone manufacturers in 2020 as we can see 5G phone are launching in early in 2020 even though 5G has not been launched till date in India.
We have seen that for the past two years, Realme is effectively targetting almost every smartphone manufacturers in sub Rs. 40,000 with the X50 Pro, with the 6GB / 128GB base model available in India for only Rs. 37,999 ($ 525).
The 8GB / 128GB model will be available in the country for Rs. 39,999 ($ 555), and the 12GB / 256GB option will sell for Rs. 44,999 ($ 625). That's amazing when you consider the hardware offered by the Realme in X50 pro.
